Attendance,
Cancellation and Substitution
Q: What if I register for a seminar, but then can’t attend?
A: If you cannot attend a seminar you can contact AMA in advance to
transfer to a future session, or you can send someone to take your
place. If you need to cancel your attendance, AMA will give you a
complete refund if you cancel more than three weeks before your
seminar begins. To cancel, simply call AMA’s registrar at
1-800-349-1935. If you cancel with less than three weeks’ advance
notice, you will be liable for the entire seminar fee. Once your
payment has been received, you may request a courtesy transfer to use
at any future AMA seminar of equal or lesser length. The courtesy
transfer must be used within one year of the date of your originally
scheduled seminar. In fairness to all attendees, if you do not attend
a seminar session for which you are confirmed and do not contact AMA
to cancel in advance, you will be charged the entire seminar fee.

from AMA Seminars?
A: Yes, AMA seminars qualify for Continuing Education Units. Some

Q: What are Continuing Education Units (CEUs)?
A: Through the Continuing Education Unit (CEU) system, you receive
formal recognition for improving your management skills by completing
AMA seminars. Under the CEU system, one unit is awarded for completion
of ten hours of participation in an organized continuing education
experience that provides responsible sponsorship, capable direction
and qualified instruction. All of AMA’s seminars qualify for CEUs.
When you earn CEUs, you receive immediate
recognition for your career development efforts. A CEU Certificate
suitable for framing will be presented to you upon satisfactory
completion of the AMA seminar you have attended. You will also have a
permanent, confidential record of accomplishments kept by AMA.
Providing us with your Social Security number each time you attend a
seminar enables us to update your record on an ongoing basis.
The CEU System:
- Allows you to build a permanent record of achievement as you
take part in education or training to further your career.
- Provides a means for showing supervisors, personnel officers and
others an official summary of seminars you have completed as part of
your preparation for wider responsibilities and higher level
positions.
- Offers a means for giving official confirmation of your
completion of continuing professional education courses and seminars
to certification bodies, licensing boards and professional
societies.
Q: How many CEUs do I earn for my seminar?
A: The number of CEU credits is indicated at the bottom of your
seminar description Web page. This number corresponds to the number of
contact hours involved. You earn one credit for every ten hours of
instruction.

completion of each qualifying AMA seminar.
After you have completed several such programs,
you may want to have an official transcript of your cumulative CEU

seminar you have completed since the CEU system was adopted in January
1974. A transcript will be issued only at the personal request of the
individual whose record it contains. To obtain a transcript, or to
